Internal Family System
What is…
Internal Family System
Internal Family System (IFS) developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, is a psychotherapeutic approach that conceptualizes the mind as composed of multiple subpersonalities or ‘parts’, each holding distinct roles, memories and emotions. These parts often develop as ways to help us cope with pain, trauma, and unmet needs.
Space for more clarity, confidence, and emotional freedom
In IFS we learn to connect with these inner parts to understand and work with them from a place of compassion. At the core of this model is the belief that we all have a Self, a wise, calm and curious inner presence that can lead our healing.
You might recognize some of your parts: the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the protector, or the wounded child. IFS helps you build a relationship with these parts, so they no longer need to push, protect, or sabotage from the shadows. This creates space for more clarity, confidence, and emotional freedom.
Why I integrate IFS intomy work
Begin to heal
I’ve completed a 6 month online IFS circle training, which deepened my ability to hold space for the complexity of inner experience and guide clients through this transformative work. In my practice, IFS allows us to gently explore the parts of you that are stuck in survival. This is often as a result of narcissistic abuse, emotional neglect, or chronic self-abandonment. By listening to and honoring these parts, we begin to heal the inner system from within.
Coming home to your Self
IFS is not about changing who you are. It’s about coming home to your Self and leading life from a place of inner harmony and wholeness.
